Cypresswood, Spring TX

Cypresswood is a wooded subdivision located in the Spring, TX suburb of Houston, 24 miles from downtown. The homes in Cypresswood were built in the 1970’s and 1980’s and are comprised on one and two story single family traditional homes ranging from 1800-3500 square feet. Lots range in size from 8,000 square feet to a quarter acre on streets lined with Oak, Cypress, and Pine trees. Residents are attracted to the convenient location just 15 minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport and close to shopping and restaurants. The community amenities are also a highly desirable feature of the community.

The center of the community is the Cypresswood Clubhouse, home to the Cypresswood Community Association. This resident-only facility is home to two clubhouses, a pavilion, 10 tennis courts, two swimming pools, two playgrounds, and a walking trail that runs along Cypresswood Drive. The clubhouse hosts annual Easter celebration, a July 4th parade and party, a National Night Out, Member-Guest Tennis Tournament, Fall Festival and Breakfast with Santa. The Cypresswood pool is home to the Cypresswood Sharks Swim Team which was established in 1974 and provides a competitive swimming opportunity to kids aged 4 to 18. To enjoy these amenities, residents pay homeowner’s association dues of less than $500 per year. The nearby Cypresswood Golf Club features 36 holes of championship golf on two courses and has hosted numerous amateur and professional events. The Tradition course has been ranked the #1 daily fee course in Houston for four consecutive years and the Cypress Course was rated Best New Course by Golf Digest in 1988.

With more than 1,700 homes in the neighborhood, the selection of homes available for sale is plentiful. Fifty-seven properties in Cypresswood sold in 2010. Homes range in price from $90,000 to $200,000 depending upon square footage, lot size, upgrades and condition. Distressed sales such as foreclosures and short sales can be found for less depending upon repairs or renovations needed. The average time on market for sold homes was 50 days. The tax rate is a low $2.58 per $1,000 of valuation. There is no Municipal Utility District (MUD).

Cypresswood is zoned to the highly regarded Klein Independent School District. Cypresswood students attend Haude Elementary, rated “Exemplary” by the Texas Education Association, and Strack Intermediate and Klein Collins High School, both rated as “Recognized”.
